One of the key components to a strong healthy core is decompression. Because of poor posture, sitting or excessive pounding (due to sport and life), over time the discs between the vertebrae get compressed. In this state there is no blood flow or oxygen going to them. Often the discs become damaged, frail and often in discomfort and pain. With gravity fighting against you in the plank position it makes getting out of compression extremely difficult.
When you train with a fluid motion, the core works as a shock absorber. As the upper and lower extremities move (sometimes in opposite directions) the core has to fight for control. This protects the spine and also helps power and momentum flow through the body.
In all of our movements we teach the body to be in and out of tension. This involves the connective tissue as well as the tendons. The elastic nature of these movements not only strengthens these components but also can alleviate pain and discomfort. In addition this innervates your speed and power mechanisms (a huge bonus if you are an athlete).
We use light weight, whole body, multi planar flowing movements. This is amazing for keeping the spine mobile and pain free.
